Why My Logo is a Lotus

When learning about me or visiting my website, you may be wondering about the significance behind the design of my logo. Why a lotus? Because the meaning is so symbolic and important to me, representing the kind of lifestyle I want to live and wellness coach I am for my clients, I want to share the significance of that meaning with you.

When thinking about a logo for my practice, I wanted to do two things. First, I wanted to mimic the design I have for my psychotherapy practice. Second, I wanted to make sure that the symbol for my lifestyle coaching with others represents the resilience and the power of our own inner body wisdom. For me, this could only be captured by a blooming lotus flower.

A lotus is flower with a long stalk rooted in the mud that rises past the muddy waters to blossom. For thousands of years, the lotus has been a symbol of purity and divine birth, representing the ability to grow through the muck to give forth a flower, a blessing of beauty to others and representation of resilience for that flower itself.

Although we may, at times, resent the muck we are rooted in or grow through, a lotus, like us, cannot be truly developed until we rise above and bloom despite such challenges. Such change, I hope, for you can be both figurative and literal, driven by the light of your own inner-knowing. Like the lotus, growth and wellness coaching with me can be a time where we are reminded of our muck. But, with the resilience that makes us a lotus in the first place, rebirth can also bring a change of ideas, increased acceptance, and grace offered toward ourselves and others. When considering this for our lives, I find it important to remember…

No Mud. No Lotus.

The other thing I find powerful about the image of a lotus is that no flower is the same. So, when we think about food and changing a lifestyle to support a different way of eating, like a ketogenic/low-carbohydrate lifestyle, we can be reminded of our own hang ups about our bodies, unhealthy relationship with food, or unattainable standards of beauty. But, just like flowers are all unique and beautiful in their own ways, so are you! This is why I see myself as a lifestyle coach.

Yes, I have hours of education and experience in mental health, holistic healing, and nutrition. But, I can’t tell you what you need to do for you. Bioindividuality rules all. (The example that I often give is that avocados may truly be the miracle fruit that we should all eat. But, if you are allergic to it, it would do you more harm than good!) So, your journey to live a healthier lifestyle is about what you determine you need. I can just offer education, resources, and support along the way.

It’s also not about “changing” you or your body type or lifestyle to be like others. It’s about accepting yourself for your beauty, pruning off dead leaves that don’t serve you any more, and helping you find the foundation, the soil, and the roots that help you grow and blossom to be your best Self.

One more thought: In my experience, often we forget the inner wisdom within ourselves. We turn to others hoping that they can help. And, while I love my job and am always happy to remind others of that inner light that we forget, I also want to help people discover this for themselves.

You are more resilient and strong than you think you are. Your own healing is not too far away. Take my story as an example: you are not too far gone! In fact, just when you have given up and accepted misery as normal, the world may open up for you. You have come to the right place. There is hope!

Don’t stop before the miracle happens!
